The MERIT Library provides services and resources to the faculty, staff and students of the School of Education, UW-Madison, the Wisconsin education community and beyond.

Printing

MERIT Library has multiple printing options from standard B&W printing to color printing, to poster printing and hot roll lamination. Laminating Hot-roll lamination is available at MERIT Library. Poster Printing Large-format poster printing is available at MERIT Library. Standard Printing Standard black & white and color printing are available at MERIT Library.

Equipment Loan

Students enrolled in a School of Education course, and faculty & staff working for a department or unit in the School of Education are eligible to check out equipment from MERIT. All users are required to fill out an equipment use agreement form each academic term. View our equipment list here. Laptop, Dual-boot Mac Loan Dual-boot Mac laptops can be checked out on a short-term basis (3 days) at the MERIT Help Desk. Camera Loan Still photography equipment for loan. Camcorder Loan Video recording devices for loan. Projector Loan Computer, video and film projection systems for loan. Tablet Loan Apple iPads, graphics tablets. Audio Equipment Loan Audio recorders, microphones and playback systems Computer Items Loan External computer accessories. Cables and Chargers Loan Portable microfiche readers, assorted cables.

Materials Loan

The Library collection, supporting the School of Education’s Teacher Certification Programs, includes scholarly and PreK-12 print, media, and electronic information sources. The collection is developed in collaboration with the Libraries of the UW-Madison and of the UW System. New materials suggestions for the MERIT Library are welcome and encouraged in order to insure our materials are aligned with changing curriculum needs. Journals Collection The MERIT Library receives over 265 journals in the field of education for use within the library. Full text access to selected articles from many of these journals is available through links in MadCat, the online campus catalog. Professional Collection Materials Loan The professional education collection includes titles in the areas of theory and practice of education. PK12 Collection Materials Loan The PK-12 collection includes materials for preschool, kindergarten, elementary and secondary education. Reference Collection The reference collection contains general and specialized encyclopedias, dictionaries, bibliographies, guides, handbooks, and statistical compilations pertinent to the field of education

Course Reserves

The Reserve Collection at MERIT Library is intended to provide limited access to high-demand materials for School of Education courses, particularly those which support the teacher training and preparation programs. Items in this collection are submitted by instructors for students currently enrolled in UW-Madison and have restricted circulation periods. 

Library Research

MERIT Library provides research help and guidance for students, faculty, and staff of the School of Education.  Whenever possible, we provide assistance to anyone interested in education research, including other UW affiliates, Wisconsin educators, and citizens. Article & Book Discovery UW-Madison faculty, staff, and students, have many ways to obtain materials.  MERIT’s reference librarians can help you request articles, books, CDs, videos, and more from campus and state library partners. Citation Manager Support MERIT research librarians can offer support in navigating the various citation management software tools available at UW-Madison. Service Desk The MERIT Service Desk has a physical presence within MERIT Library.  Research librarians are available during MERIT Library hours.
